Assistance and Counsel for women

Aðstoð og ráðgjöf fyrir konur

If a woman has suffered domestic abuse, psychological and/or physical, she can at any time seek shelter in Kvennaathvarfið (a safe shelter for women and children) for herself and her children. Kvennaathvarfið and Kvennaráðgjöf (Counsel for Women), amongst others, provide assistance over the phone, as well as offering other means of support.

Kvennaathvarfið is there for women and children which have suffered domestic violence. The staff can speak both Icelandic and English. In cases where those seeking assistance are neither Icelandic nor English speaking, the Kvennaathvarf will provide an interpreter free of charge.

Kvennaráðgjöf (Counsel for Women)

The Kvennaráðgjöf offers free social and legal advice for women, Tuesdays from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
